Tom Wilkening had already been building boats in Canada for 25 years when he came to Florida in 1968. As a General Manager of Lydia Yachts in Stuart, Florida, he revolutionized the design and building of Party Fishing Boats. The original Lydia Party boats of the 70’s, with their fast hulls and distinctive cabins, are still in operation up and down the eastern seaboard of the United States.

Tom left Lydia Yachts in 1980 to establish his own boat yard in Ft. Pierce, Florida. Working with his sons, he continued to design and build Party Boats and branched out into custom Dive Boats, Sports Fishing Boats, Commercial Fishing Boats, and the occasional Houseboat.

After 48 years, he retired in 1991. This however did not last long as he seized the opportunity in 1997 to purchase back his old boat yard and came out of retirement as the present Lydia Boats, Inc.

The “new” Lydia Boats, Inc. is a full service facility specializing in Custom Built Boats designed to meet each owner’s requirements. Using the latest in modern materials, Lydia Boats, Inc. prides itself on the old fashioned work ethics of the 50’s and 60’s with timely delivery as a priority. With haul-out capabilities, the yard is also fully equipped to perform all types of repair work be it mechanical or structural, re-powering, painting, renovations, or refurbishing well-worn classics.

Unique to the boat building industry is Lydia Boats, Inc. pricing structure for new boats. We have begun working with a ‘Cost Plus Pricing Plan’ which saves our customers an amazing amount of money while allowing more personal flexibility than a straight Contract Price structure.
